As the Dump gets closer to the shore the Number of jobs is revised downwards

Updated: Oct 3, 2023

In the latest press release, NWS acknowledged that the dump would be a lot nearer to the shore than the 22 km mentioned in the propaganda news sheet GDF Voice.. They now accept that it will be about 10 km offshore.

As the GDF creeps closer to shore, the number of jobs has shrunk from 10,000 to 4,000 and that includes supply chain jobs. Although GOTEC welcomes this new realism we also see it as another attempt to pull the wool over the eyes of local people. What they need to know is the net effect on employment. The figure of 4,000 is a cumulative figure that amounts to no more than 160 jobs a year.

Nuclear Waste and family holidays cannot exist side by side so any jobs gained on the site have to be offset by the number of jobs lost in Leisure and Tourism. Before the project goes any further GOTEC believes that the councils should carry out a survey of local businesses to find out how placing a GDF surface site not 200 metres from our largest holiday park would affect investment and jobs in the leisure and tourism industry.
